After School Dance Classes

teachingOffering creative movement and hip hop classes for all ages led by Nagata Dance faculty. Typically, sessions last eight to ten weeks with classes meeting once a week for 45 minutes. Students are surrounded by others eager to learn and dance. In most schools, several grades are in one dance class, offering dancers the opportunity to work together with others in different grades or classrooms. In addition to working towards a final performance for families, friends and loved ones, the Nagata Dance after school program is a chance to strengthen a community while participating in a fun activity. The session culminates with a teacher-led performance for parents and peers. These popular performances aren’t only entertaining to watch, but they also offer families and friends the chance to groove with their favorite dancers in a “Friends Dance” concluding the show! Pre-registration required and offered through child’s school. Parents are invited to come watch any of the dance practices, and can e-mail Nagata Dance directly with any questions at This email address is being protected from spambots. - Andrew Cohen, Director of the After School Program at the French-American International School, San Francisco

For years, we struggled to run an after school dance program here at the San Francisco Friends School, but it never took off until Corrine Nagata came through our doors. Now 30 to 50 boys and girls participate each week, with excitement and dedication. The students blossom under her direction, developing confidence and poise. Each session ends with an incredible student performance that parents look forward to with great anticipation. Often, there are even a few teary eyes in the room (including my own). I am extremely grateful to have Corrine teaching here at our school!
