Celine Alwyn-Teaching Artist



Having had the opportunity to teach dance alongside her professional engagements, Céline has witnessed first hand how dance education builds community, confidence, and offers a much-needed physical outlet for self-expression at every age and level.

Celine Alwyn

A native of San Francisco, Céline Alwyn-Parker has been nationally and internationally performing, teaching, and creating professional works for over ten years now. She has worked with several local and international contemporary choreographers including Kimi Okada, Christy Funsch, Katie Faulkner, Amelia Rudolph, Rachael Lincoln, Garry Stewart, Rui Horta, and Ben Duke. Céline has also danced with Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion and on Broadway in Bombay Dreams. Along with her dance career, Céline has earned multiple awards, these include; the Anna Halprin Award in 2002 while completing her BA degree at Santa Clara University and an Isadora Duncan Award in 2011 for her role in Terra Incognita: Revisited. Céline has also earned her Master of Arts in Dance from the London Contemporary Dance School.  Céline believes that dance education can support the physical, mental, creative, and social development of students of all ages. In tandem with learning new challenging steps, students in her class are asked to listen, feel, respond, invent, reflect, and above all support each other. Céline is honored to be a part of the Nagata Dance team of teachers now for her fourth year.
